From Remembrance to Screen Inspiration: UMI Presents the Film "Not Just Science"

Indonesian Muslim University once again held its routine monthly remembrance which took place solemnly at the UM sports building. The activity, which is part of the spiritual development of the academic community, was attended by university leaders, lecturers, education staff, students and invited guests. (8/5/2026)

The implementation of the monthly remembrance this time feels even more special because it is combined with the inauguration of the UMI 72nd Anniversary logo, the handing over of the Decree (SK) for the Religion Teacher Professional Education Study Program (PPG), giving appreciation to outstanding students, as well as promoting a short film entitled "not just science” which was produced by Vice Chancellor II UMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Zakir Sabara H. Wata, ST., MT., ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng. The entire series of activities were carried out at GOR UMI as a momentum to strengthen the identity of the Indonesian Muslim University as a university that upholds the balance between science, spirituality and human values.

On this occasion, the Decree (SK) for the opening of the Religion Professional Teacher Education Study Program (PPG) was directly handed over by Prof. Dr. H. Suyitno to the Indonesian Muslim University. The handover of this decree is an important milestone in strengthening UMI's role in producing professional teaching staff in the religious field, as well as expanding the university's contribution in developing national education based on Islamic values.

Apart from that, UMI also gives appreciation to outstanding students who have made the university proud in various academic fields. This award is a form of support and motivation so that students continue to develop their potential, creativity and positive competitive spirit in bringing a good name to the campus at regional, national and international levels.

The inauguration of the UMI 72nd Anniversary logo marked the start of a series of university anniversary activities. The logo represents UMI's long journey in providing superior education based on Islamic values. The spirit of innovation, dedication and transformation is reflected in the logo design which is expected to be able to unify the spirit of the entire academic community in welcoming the future of the campus.

On the same occasion, UMI also presented the short film "not just science" as a medium for reflection on humanist education as well as a medium for campus promotion to the wider community. The film illustrates that the process of studying is not only oriented towards academic achievement, but also towards the formation of morals, integrity, social awareness and the value of community service.

UMI Chancellor, Prof. Dr. H. Hambali Talib, S.H., M.H. emphasized that film is not just science, it is not just a promotional medium for new students, but is a representation of the values ​​that have been maintained by UMI as a campus of science and worship.

"Through this film, we want to remind you that education must not stop at intellectual intelligence alone. Education must glorify humans, shape morals, foster empathy, and present a heart that cares for others," he said.

The message presented through the film received appreciation from the participants present. The inspirational visuals and storyline are considered capable of strengthening the spirit of character education which has long been the identity of the Indonesian Muslim University.

Through the implementation of routine monthly remembrances, the inauguration of the 72nd Anniversary logo, the handing over of the Decree for the PPG Religion Study Program, giving awards to outstanding students, and the promotion of the film Not Just Science, UMI reaffirms its commitment to providing education that not only produces an intellectually intelligent generation, but also has strong spirituality, noble morals, and concern for others.
