Makassar,fkg.umi.ac.id– Faculty of Dentistry, Indonesian Muslim University held a Preparatory Workshop for the Opening of the Specialist Dentist Education Program (PPDGS) in Conservation Dentistry and Prosthodontics which took place at the MYKO Hotel & Convention Center Makassar. This activity is a strategic step for FKG UMI in preparing to open a specialist education program to improve the quality of education and dental health services in Eastern Indonesia. (4/7/2026)
The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of FKG UMI, Prof. Drg. H. Moh. Dharma Utama, Ph.D., Sp.Pros., SubSpecial PKIKG (K), who in his speech conveyed FKG UMI's commitment to continue developing the institution through opening quality specialist study programs, in accordance with national dental education standards.
This activity presented a number of resource persons who were figures and experts in the field of Indonesian dental education. The first material was delivered by the Chair of the Association of Indonesian Dentistry Specialist Study Programs, Dr. Drg. Andi Tajrin, M.Kes., Sp.B.M.M., SubSp.C.O.M.(K), who discussed various strategic aspects in developing specialist education programs.
Furthermore, Chairman of the Council of Indonesian Dentist Professors, Prof. Drg. M. Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.B.M.M., SubSp. Ortognat-D, provides an explanation of the role of academics and quality standards in the implementation of specialist dental education.
In the next session, Drg. Irfan Sugianto, M.Med., Ph.D., Sp.RKG, explained the agreement between the Association of Indonesian Dental Faculties (AFDOKGI) and Belmawa regarding the mechanisms and requirements for opening specialist study programs. Meanwhile, Prof. Drg. Armasastra Bahar, Ph.D., provided material regarding preparation for filling out the proposal form for opening a specialist study program as one of the important stages in the licensing process.
Meanwhile, the Prosthodontics Specialist Study Program session presented Drg. Muhammad Ikbal, Ph.D., Sp.Pros., SubSp.PKIKG(K), from the Collegium of Prosthodontics, and drg. Irfan Dammar, Sp.Pros., SubSp.MFP(K), as Head of the Hasanuddin University Prosthodontics Specialist Study Program.
Through this workshop activity, FKG UMI received various input, direction and reinforcement in preparing documents and fulfilling the requirements for opening the Dentist Education Program Specialist in Endodontics and Prosthodontics. It is hoped that this effort can accelerate the realization of specialist programs within FKG UMI so that they are able to produce specialist dentists who are competent, professional and competitive at national and international levels.
