UMI FKG International KKN at IIUM Kuantan, Malaysia

Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) has a vision to become a world-class institution that produces superior, quality and Islamic graduates who are ready to compete in global competition. To achieve this vision, the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) UMI collaborated with the Kuliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to organize an International KKN (4/12/2016).

This International KKN will be held on 4-12 December 2016 at the Kuantan Malaysia campus.

The event to send off international KKN students was held by the Chancellor of UMI, Prof Dr Masrurah Mokhtar, at the FKG UMI campus, Jl Kakatua Makassar. On this occasion, the Chancellor revealed that the international KKN program was an implementation of UMI's international cooperation aimed at spurring UMI's internationalization process.

This International KKN program is an integral part of UMI's regular KKN. According to the Chair of LPMD UMI, Prof. Salim Basalamah, students participating in international KKN have added value, namely the experience of interacting with the international community.

This program is strongly supported by the Association of Parents and Lecturers (POMD) FKG UMI. Prof. M Kasnir, the current chairman of POMD, said that programs aimed at improving the quality of students would be a priority for funding assistance from POMD.

Furthermore, the Dean of FKG, Dr Drg Syamsu Khaldun, said that this program was designed jointly between UMI and IIUM so that students who took part would gain an understanding of dental health in Malaysia and the students would also carry the mission of introducing UMI and Indonesia to the international arena.

Head of the International Affairs Office (KUI) Ir. Hj. Setyawati Yani, ST., M.T., Ph.D said, while at IIUM FKG UMI students will live in student dormitories with IIUM students. FKG students will carry out various programs that are carefully designed, so that both parties, namely IIUM and UMI, benefit from the program. The various collaborations carried out by UMI, both with domestic and foreign institutions, are always accompanied by the implementation of collaboration. "All of this is done to achieve UMI's vision of becoming a world-class university," he said.
